Welcome and thanks for including me in your therapist search. Take a look around my website to get a sense of me and my practice. And please reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule a free 20-minute telephone consultation.

I work with adults who are interested in change. This could be a specific adjustment or a more complex effort to stop suffering. My goal is to help you discover your resilience and to find clarity. You define the change you want in therapy. I guide the process.

A part of this approach is the safe experiencing of unconsciously avoided emotional pain. Often, we just keep doing the same thing simply because it’s how we’ve always done it. But what if your survival strategies are actually getting in your way? I can help you identify blind spots and expand your internal, emotional awareness, thus promoting a fuller acceptance of yourself.

I’m an active therapist who will help you work at the edge of your comfort zone, which is difficult, but where real change takes place. Towards this end, we will team together to help you work safely towards your goals as you gain direct experience of your body and your emotions. I utilize somatic awareness to help solidify, as well as generate, new understandings. A full and nuanced awareness of your experience, I believe, will help you better navigate your life.

I specialize in experiential dynamic therapy (EDT), specifically utilizing ISTDP (Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy) and AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy). These approaches are emotion-focused, somatic, and utilize experiential techniques geared to generate deep emotional responses and insights. I’m also extensively trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) in order to help individuals who are also in couples counseling.

Your goals and problems will be addressed actively from the moment we begin our work together. We’ll act as a team to stay safely focused on your experience during each moment of our sessions. I believe that you want to be healthy and together we will focus on the transformations you want for yourself.

In addition to mental health concerns, I also work with somatic symptoms related to complex biological and psychological factors, sometimes called functional somatic or functional neurological disorders. These can appear in striated muscles (e.g., pain, numbness, tremors, etc.), smooth muscles (e.g., gastrointestinal issues, migraines, etc.), cognitive perceptual impairments (seizures, fainting, mental confusion, etc.), and/or motor conversion.
